Today I accidentally open the website of Humber College in Toronto. There is a course called Making Accessible media: Accessible design in digital media. The webpage shows detailed information about this course, including its teaching ideas and the contents of the course. At the bottom of this webpage, there show various interactive accessibility features. The first one is the magnifier. It allows the users to magnify text and images on a page. So, for those who cannot see clearly if those words are too small, the magnifier can help a lot. The second one is the ‘Text to Audio Screen Reader’. It will read all the text on the page. If one cannot read or see, the audio screen reader will provide the assists. I notice one of these features called ‘ASL’. I don’t know the meaning, so I google it. The full name is American Sign Language. It is the communicating method for those who are mute and deaf. These features all have been showed on this webpage. If such interactive accessible sign in media could be popularized on the internet, there will be much convenient for disability to use the internet.
